Awareness through Art: Peace Place Exhibit Features Work by Survivors of Domestic Violence

The art exhibit "A Walk in Her Shoes", on display at the historic Barrow County courthouse, seeks to raise awareness of domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a collection of artwork assembled by a local organization seeks to raise awareness right here in Barrow County.

, a shelter that assists battered women and their children, held its 11th annual candle light vigil to honor and remember victims of domestic violence on Tuesday, Oct. 4, on the steps of the historic Barrow County courthouse. The vigil was followed by the opening reception for "A Walk in Her Shoes", which features artwork by survivors of domestic violence, artists who wish to raise awareness and local high school students.

The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of October.
