Spend Your Summer Reading

Summer Fun Reading with the Auburn Public Library

For those in Auburn and the surrounding community who haven't met me yet, I am the branch manager at the . I graduated from the University of Georgia, go Dawgs, and I am currently working on my master's degree in library and information science. I absolutely love serving the community of Auburn in Barrow County. Becoming a part of this community has been one of the best experiences in my life.

I have a sticker on my car that says simply, "Read." Its what I'm passionate about, for myself and for others. Reading spawns a wealth of emotions as well as dreams and aspirations. It opens up doors and worlds, sometimes beyond our imagination. I love to travel, and reading is for me another form of travel where we can meet new people and explore new lands. The Auburn Public Library is a place where anyone can come and find a story they will love. Whether your passion lies in cooking, home improvement, travel, religion, biographies, or the latest bestseller, we have something for everyone.

This summer's reading theme for all ages is World Culture/World Travel, and we invite the community to get your family involved in exploring the world along with us.

Specific to children is the theme "One World, Many Stories," and we'll have special programs to entertain, delight, and enlighten throughout the summer starting May 31.

Teen programs under the theme "You Are Here" will focus on an "out of this world" experience beginning June 4.

Children from birth through age 18 can participate free of charge in our programs and the summer reading experience. We'll provide prizes as children achieve levels in reading, and the ultimate experience will be the end of the summer Around the World party on July 16 with prizes for our top readers.

Sign-ups for the program begin May 23, 2011.

We hope to have record numbers join in the fun. Stop by the library for a calendar of events or check out our website at www.prlib.org/auburn. You can also find us on Facebook at Auburn Public Library.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!
