When I initially contacted Georgia Sod and Turfgrass, I was admittedly ignorant to what options were available, if any, in attempting to successfully grow any grass whatsoever at the new home I had purchased given the amount of shade. When the owner of the company, Davin Youngblood, showed up for my estimate, the first thing I did was express my concern about the lack of continuous sunlight on my property and even asked if had a chance at all with growing grass here. I was not given any reason to believe that I should have any problems growing grass here. The morning the installers showed up, the first thing one of them did was to make the statement that "this grass isn't gonna grow here". When I informed Mr. Youngblood of this comment being made, he resorted to trying to insult the individual on his staff that made it rather than offering any reassurance whatsoever that I had made the correct decision in purchasing $2,750 worth of installed centipede sod. This prompted me to spend a considerable amount of time in doing my own research to which I discovered this grass has absolutely zero chance of surviving much longer than 8 months to a year. Almost all types of grass need at least 3-4 hours of direct sunlight. It was obvious that I was unaware of such statistics and I can only believe that Davin Youngblood recognized such and took full advantage of it. The work that his staff did was absolutely wonderful but I can't help but feel that the owner of this company took full advantage of my ignorance and I was left with the consequences. When I contacted him about this he informed me that if my grass did not come back this spring that he would be glad to replace all of it with something that would.

I contacted him at the beginning of April after I lost 100% of what was planted in the back and 20% of what was planted in the front yard. I was initially given a slight runaround on actually setting up a date to install sod to replace what was lost in the back yard. The install finally happened today but there is one minor problem. Mr. Youngblood only had enough sod shipped to my house to cover about 75% of the back yard. His installer was obviously pissed about this and contacted him to inform him of such. Mr Youngblood then instructed his installer to just start at the back of my house and go until he was out. I was informed of this and immediately called to question this and was basically told that he thought he had ordered enough. But, nobody ever offered to fix this mistake. I am just left with 75% yard with fescue sod and the back quarter is dirt from where they tilled it up. Nobody with this company assumed responsibility for this mistake. It was essentially my problem to deal with. When I confronted Mr. Youngblood about this, he basically said sorry I ordered too little but at least I honored my commitment. His installer informed my wife that we were about 2 pallets short from covering my back yard and he expressed hsi remorse because he didn't want to leave it looking the way that it does.

In the end, I am sort of torn over my experience with this company. It was absolutely great that Mr. Youngblood offered to replace what was lost. There are a lot of companies that would have never done such. But, to fall so short on such a noble act kind of kills the intent all together. If I had it all over to do again, I would love to hire this company as his staff of installers does amazing work. But, I cannot in good faith give them a ringing endorsement after falling so short on a voluntary commitment and dumping the ensuing problem in my lap and then looking for a pat on the back.
