Winder Fire Department Collects More Than $6,800 for Adolescent Burn Victims

The department contributed to the 2013 Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation's Give Burns the Boot campaign.

The Winder Fire Department want to thank Barrow County residents for their contributions to this year's Give Burns the Boot campaign.

The department raised more than $6,800 through its boot drive, which supports the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and its programs, which include Camp Oo-U-La, a camp held at Fort Yargo State Park each year for children who are burn victims. Funds donated to the foundation sponsor scholarships for approximately 100 children to attend the camp.

Barrow residents can continue to support the Winder Fire Department's fundraising efforts by participating in an upcoming 5K Trail Run at 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at Fort Yargo. A fun run will be held at 5:30 p.m. Register for the 5K Trail Run online at classicraceserrvices@gmail.com or call Classic Race Services at 706-680-7223.
