Roswell Middle School Student Dies on Spring Break — Roswell Patch

Over the weekend, the families of North Fulton students learned the sad news that a local middle school student had been killed over spring break.

Former Hillside Elementary student James McHenry was vacationing with his family on Hutchinson Island last week when he was hit by a car Wednesday, April 3, according to a notice sent out by Hillside Principal Maisha Otway over the weekend.

A Channel 5 news report from the area suggests McHenry, 13, had been crossing the road with a friend around 7:25 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a 73-year-old driver. Airlifted to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Marietta Pair Accused of Abusing Special Needs Child — Marietta Patch

A 2-year-old special needs child was abused so bad last month that he has recurring seizures and may have permanent neurological damage.

The man who allegedly hit the boy and the woman who failed to get him medical treatment in a timely manner were arrested Friday afternoon, according to online jail records.

In Cobb County criminal warrants, authorities allege that between 7 p.m. March 29 and 6:58 p.m. March 31, Kenneth Lamont Thompson of Marietta hit the boy multiple times on both of his legs, thighs and buttocks, which caused multiple bruises.

Man Falls 11 Floors at Ovation Buckhead Plaza Condos- Buckhead Patch

The Atlanta Police Department reports that a man fell to his death from a high-rise condo building in Buckhead on Monday morning.

According to Officer Kim Jones, around 5:14 a.m., Buckhead Zone 2 officers responded "and located a male lying on the ground unresponsive." The man was found outside of the Ovation Buckhead Plaza condos on Peachtree Road.

Police officers learned that the man lived on the 11th floor of the high rise condominium building, and believe he fell from that floor to his death.

— Lilburn-Mountain Park Patch

The Lilburn Police Department needs the community's help in identifying a man who was struck and killed while crossing the road on April 7.

Police say a vehicle traveling northbound on Pleasant Hill Road hit the man, as he was crossing at a dimly lit section about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.

An initial investigation determined that that speed was not a factor, and no charges are pending against the driver, according to a police department press release.

The unidentified man was transported to the Eastside Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, Lilburn police said.
