 — East Atlanta Patch

A student was shot and a teacher injured Thursday afternoon at Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta.

A juvenile suspect was quickly apprehended by a school resource officer and taken into custody, Atlanta police said. A small-caliber handgun was recovered. It appeared the victim and suspect knew each other and had argued earlier.

Sheriff's Deputies Seek Help in Solving Two Burglary Attempts — Woodstock Patch

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office needs the public's help in finding who is behind two attempted burglary incidents that happened early Thursday morning. 

At around 4:30 a.m., a van backed up to the Hobgood Chevron at the corner of Bells Ferry Road and Towne Lake Parkway.

According to a Cherokee Sheriff's Office press release, a male exited the vehicle and broke the glass window next to the ATM machine inside the store.

The suspect allegedly attached at strap to the ATM machine and drove away.

Coyote Strategies Discussed at Meeting — Dunwoody Patch

Three speakers talked about the metro Atlanta coyote problem Tuesday night at the Church of the Epiphany.

Mary A. Paglieri, a consultant with the Little Blue Society in the San Francisco area, a group that specializes in human-animal conflict resolution, said behavior modification is the only way to go.

"They will avoid things that are pretty much new," she said. "If they come into your back yard frequently, you need to modify your habitat. ... You start with the minimum of scare tactics and you escalate."

Sun Glare Blamed for 3-Vehicle Wreck — Monroe Patch

A three-vehicle wreck in Monroe early Thursday morning resulted in a 34-year-old Loganville man being transported to Athens Regional Hospital, according to Georgia State Patrol officials.

One of the involved drivers said he was blinded by the early morning sun and did not see the two vehicles stopped on the side of the road.

Man Shot in Canton Family Dispute — Canton-Sixes Patch

A man is in serious condition at Northside Hospital-Cherokee after he was shot in the course of a family dispute, authorities say.

According to a press release from the Canton Police Department, a Hispanic male suffered a gunshot wound at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Lakeview Drive in Canton.

 — Dacula Patch

A Jan. 26 trip to the movies proved to be very costly for two Ford truck owners.

A Sea Island, Ga. man told police he parked his 2006 Ford F150 at the Regal Hamilton Mill Stadium 14 theater at approximately 1:15 p.m. When he returned to his vehicle two hours later, he noticed the driver’s side door lock had been punched out.

Dead Body Found on I-85 in Norcross Area — Norcross Patch

Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on Interstate 85 North between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Around 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, a Corrections Work Detail was cleaning debris off Dawson Boulevard and Graves Road when they discovered a dead body. The body was discovered next to a concrete barrier near a small ravine and could not be seen off the interstate.
