Pets of the Week: A Canine and a Feline are Looking for Their Forever Homes

Find the next furry member of your family here.

An Australian cattle dog mix and a cat are awaiting their forever homes at Barrow County Animal Control. Read the descriptions to see if one of these pets is right for your family.

  • A black, white and tan, male Australian cattle dog mix, about 12 months old. He's slightly shy, but will adapt to any situation. He is good with all people and animals. He has lots of energy and needs a family that can keep up with him. He is good on a leash. "He is such a sweet dog," animal control staffer Michelle Beckemeyer said. This dog was found running loose, so animal control has no background information on him. Contact the shelter before 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, if you are interested in this dog.
  • An orange, male cat, about 8 to 10 weeks old. He is a very sweet and loving kitten. His mellow demeanor allows him to get along with people of all ages and other animals. Animal control has no background information on him.

The adoption fee for all cats and dogs is $100. The fee includes spay or neuter, a physical exam, a fecal exam, de-worming, a rabies vaccine, a distemper/parvo vaccine and micro-chipping.

For more information on these or other pets, call the shelter at 770-307-3012. Shelter hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
