Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Krista Milligan

• Name, age: Krista Milligan, 9
• School: Bethlehem Elementary
• Accomplishments: Krista has been an honor roll student throughout elementary school. She has been in the gifted program at Bethlehem Elementary for the past three years for her advanced reading abilities. Krista loves the program because it's a different learning environment from her normal classroom. Students create special projects each semester based on books they have read. Krista loves to sing, dance and cheer. She has been in her schools talent show and the children's choir at her church, Woodlake Baptist Church in Loganville. Krista has been involved in the Barrow County Cheer Association for three years. She loves to cheer and wants to become a professional cheerleader and elementary school teacher when she grows up. Krista attended two cheer camps this summer at Apalachee and Winder-Barrow high schools. Being small for her age has it's advantages — at both camps she was a flier (the cheerleader other girls toss into the air). "She is already a Apalachee Wildcat at heart," her mother, Emily Milligan, said. "Her last birthday party theme was the Apalachee Wildcats."
