News Nearby: Applicant Withdraws Proposal for Walton Youth Home that Would Have Also Served Barrow

The application had received intense opposition from residents in the surrounding community as well as officials in Loganville.

Loganville city officials withdrew a proposed resolution in support of Loganville residents' opposition to a transitional home for troubled youth Thursday after learning the applicant had withdrawn his proposal. The home was proposed for a property on Hodges Road in Loganville, just outside the city limits.

The Walton County Planning Commission was scheduled to hear the proposal at 6 p.m. Thursday and it was then to go before the Walton County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 8, 2013. The facility would have served youth from Walton and Barrow counties.
