A Winder man serving in World War II was rescued from a German prison camp, according to an article in the May 31, 1945, issue of The Winder News. Pfc. Jack W. Adams, the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Adams, was first reported missing in action in France on Jan. 3, 1945.
