March 7, 1987: Gymnasts Honored
Local gymnasts were honored at a banquet on this day in Barrow history.
The Winder-Barrow County Recreation Department’s Kippetts gymnastics team members and coached were honored with a banquet March 7, 1987. Kim Kiley received the “Miss Kippett” trophy for the year, while Carrie Bender was given a plaque for being a Class IV state qualifier. Bender was recognized for tying the record of 8.35 points on vault, a record set in 1983-84 by Kim Cook and Spring Lee.
