March 28, 1978: Countywide Fire Prevention Program

Barrow County’s fire chiefs for the cities of Statham, Bethlehem, Winder and Auburn met March 28, 1978, to discuss a countywide fire prevention program. Proposals included implementing fire zones, countywide fire department communications, special consideration of fires at schools, the hospital and nursing homes, expansion of water lines and acquiring specialized equipment to combat special types of fires, such as chemical fires.
