Large-scale Drug Bust, Relay Top This Week's Stories

  • State and local law enforcement agents have taken drug offenders off Barrow streets. Twenty-nine suspects were arrested in a large-scale roundup May 10 that involved more than 40 law enforcement agents.

  • The Barrow County Sheriff's Office released mugshots of 27 individuals arrested and charged with drug offenses during a recent operation.

  • More than 1,200 residents of Barrow County came out to Winder-Barrow Stadium to help raise money to find a cure for cancer May 13. The 2011 Relay for Life started at 7 p.m. Friday and lasted until Saturday morning, with 56 teams continuously walking the track at the stadium.

  • Looking for a job? Two nearby employers are holding upcoming job fairs, while three others are hiring for specific positions.

  • Under the new charter system status, each school in Barrow is required to have a group of parents and community members to form a School Governance Team. In preparation for the transition to a charter system, Barrow County Schools is asking anyone interested in being a part of these teams to attend a training session.
