Given the current state of the economy and the roller coaster ride many drivers have been taking at the pumps over recent months, it’s not unusual for car owners to be on the lookout for the best gas prices in town.

Thanks to the website GasBuddy.com, it’s easy for drivers all across the nation to check on the cheapest gas prices close to home and work. Georgiagasprices.com — which is powered by GasBuddy — lists the gas stations reported to have some of the best prices in the region, from the urban jungles of Atlanta to the suburban streets of small towns peppered throughout the state — including Barrow County’s own town of Bethlehem.

The way GasBuddy works is that when a user spots a good gas price, they report it to the website in exchange for the chance to win points, prizes and the satisfaction of knowing they’re helping their neighbors save on gas. Gasbuddy even has an app available for download on iPhone, Android and Blackberry smartphones for users on the go.

At the time of publication, the and the Chevron at the intersection of Christmas Avenue and Star Street were leading the pack with the best price of $3.42 per gallon for regular unleaded gas. The Marathon at 634 Christmas Ave. was close behind at $3.44 and the Shell Station at 830 Loganville Highway was reporting in at $3.49 per gallon. The priciest station of the day for the area was the , near Carl-Bethlehem Road, at $3.59 per gallon. Since gas prices change regularly, Bethlehem drivers will want to check back with GasBuddy frequently to see the best prices on regular unleaded and diesel fuel from one day to the next.
