• When and where: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the William Harris Homestead in Monroe
• Why go: To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War with re-enactments and celebrate the 19th-century lifestyle with craft demonstrations, including spinning, weaving, flint knapping, plowing with mules, chair caning, soap making, candle dipping, grits grinding, children’s games from the 1800s, music and more
• Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 12 and free for kids 6 and younger

• When and where: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens
• Why go: To learn about the creepy-crawly world of insects by exploring discovery stations and the insect café, watching puppet shows and celebrating the annual butterfly release on the lawn of the International Garden
• Cost: $5 per person, $20 maximum per family and free for children younger than 2

• When and where: 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at  Sandy Creek Park in Athens
• Why go: To enjoy this popular outdoor festival dedicated to folk music and art and listen to an outstanding lineup including Cosmic Charlie, Beverly Smith and Alice Gerrard and the Georgia Mudcats
• Cost: $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children younger than 12 along with a $2 per person park admission fee for ages 3 to 64
