Five Things to Do This Weekend: Sept. 2-4

Take part in a Labor Day celebration at Fort Yargo or head to Decatur for a book festival this weekend.

  • Why go: To see the internationally acclaimed Cirque de Soleil perform Dralion, a show that draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature

  • When and where: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at various venues around downtown Decatur Square
  • Why go: To participate in the largest independent book festival in the country featuring a book fair along with readings, talks and panel discussions with more than 300 authors from around the country

  • When and where: 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at
  • Why go: To tour historic Fort Yargo with members of the local historic society as guides and enjoy an evening hayride
  • Pricing: $5 parking fee per vehicle and $5 for hayrides
