Five Things to Do This Weekend: May 26-30

These are Patch picks for events and activities to check out this weekend.

1.  Winder Summerfest

  • When and where: 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and noon to 10 p.m. Monday at the Jug Tavern Park next to the
  • Why go: To celebrate the end of the school year and Memorial Day weekend at this inaugural carnival with great rides, arts and crafts, food and in the pavilion
  • Pricing: $20 at the gate for single-day tickets

2. 

  • When and where: 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville
  • Why go: To see this side-splitting comedy by Tony Award-winner Joe DiPetro about generations struggling to understand one another
  • Pricing: $16 to $30

  • When and where: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds
  • Why go: To see demonstrations of dancing, drumming and storytelling and presentations about the history and language of the Native American culture that are attuned to the audience's ages  
  • Pricing: $7 for ages 13 and older, $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger

  • When and where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Birdhouse in Braselton
  • Why go: To support the Humane Society of Jackson County while enjoying live music, food, a pet parade and arts-and-crafts vendors
  • Pricing: Free, while donations for HSJC will be accepted at the gate

  • When and where: 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Chateau Elan in Braselton            
  • Why go: To kick off the Chateau Elan Summer Concert Series with the popular band, The Pieces of 8, and enjoy dancing and picnicking with family and friends
  • Pricing: $30 plus tax
