Minor Injuries Reported in Power Plant Explosion — Cartersville Patch
Georgia Power officials say a total of four people suffered minor injuries in a Thursday explosion at Plant Bowen near Cartersville. No one was seriously hurt.
Three of the injured were treated on scene, while a fourth was treated at and released from a hospital. A minor leg injury sent a 60-year-old man to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment.

Movie legend Burt Reynolds has been in Cartersville working on Hamlet and Hutch, a film that will put local actor Alan J. Sanders as Hamlet, local residents as extras and The Grand Theatre on the big screen.
Production started Tuesday, according to a NinaHoliday Entertainment ad for extras and stand-ins, and is set to continue in other Georgia cities, such as Blue Ridge, The Daily Tribune News reports.

Georgia GOP Chair Slammed on Gay Marriage — East Cobb Patch
The chairwoman of the Georgia Republican Party has drawn sharp rebuke around the nation for remarks she made to The Marietta Daily Journal this week about gay marriage.
East Cobb resident Sue Everhart was one of several people interviewed by the paper in a roundup story about the issue published Monday (subscription). She said that gay marriage could lead to fraud on the part of heterosexuals.

Police Release Photos and Video of Kidnapping/Robbery Suspects — Buckhead Patch
Atlanta Police have released video footage and a photo of a suspect wanted for questioning who may be involved in one or more of the recent kidnapping and robbery cases in the Buckhead area.
On Wednesday, Buckhead Patch reported that for, tips that "lead to the arrest and conviction of suspects connected with these recent crimes."

Two Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash — Canton-Sixes Patch
Two men suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident Thursday in Canton. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the Canton Fire Department both responded to the accident at roughly 4:45 p.m. on Marietta Highway near its intersection with Knox Bridge Highway/Highway 20 in the city limits.
The accident involved a red Dodge Neon, a white Chevrolet Tahoe and a white Toyota SUV. The passenger in the Dodge Neon, a 35-year-old male, had to be removed from the vehicle using Jaws of Life equipment.
