DOT Says Crews Close to Finishing Braselton Intersection Improvement Project

Weather permitting, all new lanes at the intersection of Ga. Highways 211 and 124 will be open for use by Friday night.

Construction work on an estimated $5.2 million intersection improvement project in Braselton is winding down. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation says that, weather permitting, all new lanes at the intersection of Ga. Highway 211 and Ga. Highway 124 will be open for use by Friday night.

On Thursday, crews will start working on getting traffic into the final configuration.

"Our contractor plans to have all lanes open by sundown Friday," District Construction Engineer Harold Mull said in a news release. "We are thankful to get these improvements in place. Please be patient and use caution driving through the area as these changes take place over the next 2 days." 

There will be daytime lane closures next week to finish up the medians and shoulders, and punch list work will continue until completed. Any necessary lane closures will occur during the day.

The intersection improvement project was awarded to CW Matthews Contracting Inc. for an estimated contract cost of $5.2 million. The project’s completion date was May 10, 2013.
