Senate Gun Control Hearings: Democrats Want Stronger Laws Limiting Sales, Republicans Say Existing Laws Under-Enforced

Local law enforcement officials, including Barrow and Gwinnett county sheriff's have expressed support of residents' right to bear arms as the U.S. Senate has started hearings on the issue of gun control.

The report says Democrats called for stronger laws to limit the sale of guns as Republicans insist existing laws were being under-enforced. 

Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith told Barrow Patch earlier this week that he supports residents' right to bear arms, and on Wednesday, Sheriff Smith issued a statement via the Barrow County Sheriff's Office Facebook page reiterating that stance.
