County Has Several Job Openings

All positions require applicants to have a high school diploma or GED.

Barrow County is hiring for the following positions: 

Part-time animal care tech — Performs technical work in assisting with the operations of the animal control department. Work involves responding to calls regarding animal bites, abandoned or dangerous animals, performing euthanasia of animals, maintaining records of drug use, disposing of remains, explaining county and state laws in reference to animals and other duties related to the operation of the county animal shelter. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED supplemented by six to nine months of experience in code enforcement, law enforcement animal control, or a related field. Also must hold a valid driver's license. 

Tag and tax clerk — Performs a variety of standardized clerical and public contact work associated with the collection of county taxes in the tax commissioner’s office. Work involves processing title applications, verifying information, calculating any ad valorem taxes due, entering all data, issuing tags and decals and other duties. This employee is responsible for considerable data entry work in recording tax payments and other data in computerized files. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with taxpayers and the general public. Requires a high school diploma or GED and six to nine months of experience in collections, preferably in a tax related field.

Treatment plant operator — Performs responsible technical work in the operation of the wastewater treatment plant and in the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment. Work involves supervising the operation of the county wastewater plants, operating, evaluating and deciding flow monitoring, solid waste management, and other operating criteria, among additional duties. Requires a high school diploma and four to five years of experience in water treatment plant operation.
