Clint Eastwood Comes Out in Support of Same-Sex Marriage

Is it about time states allow gay and lesbian couples to marry or should the law limit marriage between a man and a woman?

NBCNews.com reports actor-director-producer Clint Eastwood has joined more than 100 Republicans in signing a brief addressed to the U.S. Supreme Court arguing gays and lesbians should be allowed to legally marry.

Eastwood has come out in opposition of California's ban on same-sex marriages. Click here to read other big names against Proposition 8.  

Eastwood also made headlines during the final day of the Republican National Convention last fall when he had a conversation with an empty chair representing President Barack Obama.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case on March 26. 

In Georgia, Constitutional Amendment 1 in 2004 made it unconstitutional for the state to recognize or perform same-sex marriages or civil unions. The referendum was approved by 76 percent of voters.

A number of companies, including Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft are among hundreds of businesses that have signed on to a brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that federal same-sex marriage restrictions hurt their businesses.
