City Spotlight on Winder: Survey Says?

The city of Winder's Natural Gas Department will be conducting a series of phone surveys Monday, Aug. 22, and Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Aside from its all-important role of keeping local homes and businesses cozy and warm during cold winter months, natural gas is also a key element in firing up water heaters and cook stoves year round.

As a provider of natural gas to more than 5,000 customers, the city of Winder's Natural Gas Department is wholly concerned with supplying a safe and reliable service to each and every one of its customers. To that end, the department will be conducting a series of phone surveys of their sprawling customer base, which includes Winder residents and residents of Barrow, Oconee and Walton counties, on Monday, Aug. 22, and Tuesday, Aug. 23. The purpose of these surveys is to provide safety information to consumers as part of the Federal Requirements API 1162, and to solicit feedback needed to evaluate current messaging and service in order to make the department’s public awareness efforts more effective.

In addition to improvements to its public awareness efforts, the city of Winder's Natural Gas Department is constantly endeavoring to install new mains and services in the tri-county area as it plans to continue to expand right along with the communities it serves. The department — headed up by Director Mike Jewell — provides 24-hour response in the event of an emergency. If a customer believes he or she smells gas or may have a leak, the customer should call 770-867-7629 immediately. All after-hours calls are monitored and dispatched through the at 770-867-2156.
