City Spotlight on Carl: Throw Your Hat Into the Ring for Town Council

The latest news from city hall.

The town of Carl will host a qualifying period for two council seats that are up for election later this year from Tuesday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 1.

Town council members who have held those seats since 2008 are Truman Phillips and Rebecca Knight. While Knight has announced her desire to seek re-election in November, Phillips has chosen not to pursue another term. The current terms for Mayor David Brock and council members Frank Cheely and Jimmy Shedd are through 2013.

Residents interested in throwing their hats into the ring as potential candidates should drop by during the specified qualification period with a qualification fee of $21.60. Please feel free to contact Town Clerk Deana Davis with questions by calling 770-867-1308 or e-mailing townofcarl@comcast.net. Davis will happily answer queries relating to general candidate qualifications and further specifics regarding the role of council member for the town of Carl.
