City Spotlight on Carl: Barrow's First Female Mayor Elected Here

A little something from the Barrow County history books.

Did you know that the first female mayor in Barrow County was one of Carl’s own? Ms. Sarah T. Etheridge served as a Carl Town Council member before becoming mayor. Etheridge also owned a clothing store in town and volunteered at nearby Barrow Regional Medical Center. She passed away at the age of 84 in June 2009 after leaving her mark in the Barrow County history books and on the hearts of the residents of the Town of Carl.
