City Spotlight: Auburn

The latest news from city hall.

The City of Auburn hopes you and your family had fun at the Independence Day Celebration downtown this weekend. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July!

If you missed the fun, don’t worry. This coming weekend will also be jam-packed with family-friendly events. On Saturday, July 9, downtown Auburn plays host to a community yard sale on Fourth Avenue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a wide variety of vendors selling everything from antiques and bric-a-brac to clothing and toys. You never know what you might find — it’s like a treasure hunt complete with socializing and fun. The cost to set up and sell your own wares is just $10, but it’s free to come and shop ‘til you drop. If you wish to participate in the community yard sale, contact Charlotte Ewing by phone at 770-963-4002 ext. 223 or via e-mail. On Sunday, July 10, the Auburn Cruisers Car Show will rev up at 1 p.m. in downtown Auburn and won’t slow down until 5 p.m. — the perfect afternoon for car enthusiasts.

Friendly reminder: If you have a concern you’d like to discuss with the Auburn City Council, you may want to  attend this Thursday’s Business Meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. July 7 in the city council chambers. The public may offer comments on agenda items at the beginning of the meeting and can also request time at the end of the meeting to address the council regarding items that were not on the agenda.
