City Spotlight: Auburn

The latest news from city hall.

The corridors of Auburn’s City Hall will be busy this week. The Parks and Leisure Commission will hold a special called meeting in the council chambers from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, and the city council will host its monthly workshop in council chambers from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 16.

City council workshops are held the third Thursday of every month for the purpose of introducing agenda items to the council. Residents are welcome to attend, and the first order of business is always an invitation for citizen comments on agenda items. Department heads then present their individual agenda items for the month to the council, demonstrating the purpose, background, funding and recommendation for each. May’s workshop agenda included items such as the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing Redevelopment Plan, the Proclamation of American Craft Week and the 2011 six-month FY review. Archived agendas and meeting minutes are available online.

Consider attending this week’s workshop — it’s a great way to see your city government at work. For more information, visit the city of Auburn's website.
