Winder Unwraps Garbage and Recycling Holiday Schedule

The latest news from Winder City Hall.

Do you have the scoop on the latest news, events and happenings straight from the city streets of Winder? Tell us in comments.

Once the candy buckets have been picked through and sleepy trick-or-treaters head off to bed Monday evening, thoughts will begin turning to the holidays ahead.

Before we know it, guests will descend upon homes all over Winder with covered dishes and thankful hearts to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends, family and loved ones. Not long thereafter, gifts will begin stacking up under Christmas trees — only to be frantically unwrapped by bed-headed toddlers, tykes and teens. Before 2011 gives way to 2012, confetti and empty champagne bottles will serve as proof of a joyous New Year’s Eve celebration. The one thing each of these occasions has in common — besides the chance to make special new memories — is the accumulation of trash and recyclable items.

The city of Winder recognizes each of the three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day. When any of the recognized holidays falls on a week day, garbage and recycling routes will not run on those days. If your pick-up day is on or after a recognized holiday, then collection routes will be delayed one day.
