A benefit yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 13 Woodland Road in Auburn, with all proceeds going to  

The organization provides backpacks filled with essential items — shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, socks, underwear and more — for children entering the foster care system.

Today is also Donald Duck's birthday. The Disney cartoon character first appeared in "The Wise Little Hen" on June 9, 1934. According to The DisneyWiki, Donald's voice was performed by voice actor Clarence "Ducky" Nash until his death in 1985. Since that time, the character has been voiced by Tony Anselmo, who was trained by Nash for the role.
