Barrow County's Unemployment Rate Shows Drop from June to July

Barrow County's unemployment rate dropped from 10.3 in June to 9.7 percent for July.

Barrow followed suit with the metro Atlanta area, which saw rates decline to 10.4 percent for July, down one-tenth of a percentage point from 10.5 percent in June.

The jobless rate in metro Atlanta in July a year ago was also 10.4 percent.

Local area unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted

The lowest area rates, at 7.9 percent, were recorded in Athens and Warner Robins, while the highest, at 12.8 percent, was in the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha area near Dublin.
