Barrow County's Unemployment Rate Shows Drop from February to March

The unemployment rate for the Northeast Georgia region also showed a decline.

Barrow County's unemployment rate showed a sharp decline from February to March — from 8.2 percent to 7.4 percent. 

The Georgia Department of Labor also announced Thursday that the Northeast Georgia region’s unemployment rate declined four-tenths of a percentage point from 7.8 percent in February to 7.4 percent in March. The rate for the region was 8.5 percent in March a year ago.

The regional rate declined as a result of fewer new layoffs, according to a news release.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 8.4 percent, down from 8.6 percent in February. The rate was 9.1 percent in March a year ago.
