A sea gull believed to have been blown inland by high winds from a recent storm on the coast was found in Winder, according to an article in The Winder News on Aug. 15, 1940. A Winder child, Lois Lee Delay, found the bird in her front yard. Having never seen that type of bird before, she brought it in to the newspaper officer to see if anyone could identify it.
