A jogger on Barnett Shoals Road in Watkinsville recently found a child-size prosthetic leg near the Stone Shoals subdivision. As of Wednesday, July 25, police in the area were reporting that no one has come forward to claim the prosthesis.

Police Chief Lee O'Dillon stated he doesn't think the prosthesis had been on the side of the road long because it was in plain sight and it was dry, despite recent rain showers.

Two children, ages 2 and 5, were left alone in an Alpharetta store parking lot inside a locked SUV on Tuesday, July 24. According to a police report, the children's mother left them in the car because they were asleep and she didn't want to wake them.

A passerby asked a patrolling officer to check the back of a black Honda Pilot in the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store parking lot. Upon investigation police located the two children who were crying and sweating profusely. The older child was able to unlock the car for the officer. The SUV was not running and had one window opened only a half inch.

The responding police officer placed the two children in his air-conditioned patrol car and gave them both water. The temperature in the car was tested by Alpharetta Dispatch and found to be 92 degrees.

The children's mother was found inside the fabric store and stated to police that she thought it was okay to leave the children for 10 minutes. Police arrested the mother for two counts of reckless conduct and the children's father picked them up at the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

The Atlanta License Review has given two Starbucks locations in the Buckhead area approval to sell beer and wine. Starbucks has been testing the market for beer and wine sales since 2009 and announced this past December that it would be expanding the sale of alcoholic beverages at Starbucks stores.

The two locations in Buckhead to test the market include the 1230 West Paces Ferry Road and 1801 Howell Mill Road stores. Beer typically sells at Starbucks for $5 and wine prices range from $7 to $9. Select Starbucks locations begin selling alcoholic beverages at 2 p.m.
