Middle School Students Sent to Hospital Due to Severe Itching — Cascade Patch

At least 21 Brown Middle School students were taken to Hughes-Spalding Hospital Monday due to severe itching. Most of the children transported were all in the same class, yet it is still unclear what has caused the itching.

The transferring of those affected students to the hospital was taken as a precaution. The school day was not affected in any other way.

Fallen Tree Causes Large House Fire — East Atlanta Patch

One home was completely destroyed by fire while a second home was damaged extensively after a tree fell on power lines and then created a gas leak which subsequently ignited.

"It was the gas leak and the power lines that contributed to the start of the fire," Atlanta Fire Rescue Department spokeswoman Marian McDaniel told East Atlanta Patch.

Gov. Deal Suspends Six DeKalb School Board Members — Dunwoody Patch

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Monday that he is signing an executive order that accepts the State Board of Education's recommendation that six DeKalb school board members be removed.

Deal made the announcement Monday afternoon during a press conference at the state capitol.

Prior to the announcement, Deal huddled with members of the DeKalb legislative delegation for several minutes.

 — Alpharetta Patch

Milton police are investigating the theft of approximately $900 in cash from seven registers at Walmart on Feb. 21.

According to an incident report, a suspect entered the store on Windward Parkway at 10:39 p.m. on Feb. 21 and left by 10:58 p.m. During the time he was in the store, video shows the suspect taking a jacket off a rack and placing it on a shopping cart he was pushing. He then visited seven different registers, using a hammer and screwdriver to pry open each one.

One Home Invasion Suspect Arrested, One Still at Large — Douglasville Patch

One man is in custody and one is still at large, after Friday morning's home invasion where two men, impersonating police officers, restrained and pistol whipped a man while stealing two guns and two laptop computers and leading police on a high-speed chase.

Lt. Bruce Ferguson of the Douglas County Sheriff's Major Case Unit said that two black males entered an apartment at Stewart Mill Landing, announcing they were police officers. They restrained and beat the husband, while not harming the wife.
