Around the Region: Baby-Toting Robbers, Rabid Raccoon and Stolen Shoebox

 — Buckhead Patch

Atlanta Police are asking for the public's help in finding a couple suspected of committing two Buckhead area robberies over the Labor Day weekend. In at least one of the crimes, police reports indicate that the couple took a baby along during their caper.

 — Cumming Patch

A raccoon that bit a 72-year-old man on the finger last week in northwest Forsyth County has tested positive for rabies, according to the .

The man was bitten Aug. 30 as he was entering his barn to get food for his animals.

“The raccoon gave no signs of aggression or being rabid when the man saw him," said Lt. David Waters of the Special Services Unit of the FCSO. "It just attacked him immediately when he came into the barn."

 — Alpharetta Patch

A Milton woman told police someone stole her passport, Social Security card, original birth certificate, 12 credit cards and $10,000 in cash from a shoebox inside her closet.

The woman said she had a verbal argument with her live-in boyfriend Aug. 29, according to an incident report by Milton police. The next day, she went into her closet to gather her belongings to move out. That is when she noticed a bag containing those items was missing.

I grew up in a Winder where doors were not locked and the town was full of folks shopping! SometimesRead More a moonshiner would get caught or the parking meter would run out of time and one would get a parking ticket by one of the three cops in town! Now I keep a weapon handy because of voices and footsteps on the pavement at night! Where are these people coming from and going to after one o'clock in the morning? Why does it take so long for a policeman to show up after a call is made,if they show up at all? I've watched nice homes on my street turn into dumps. They are rented by owners who are only interested in the money and not the quality of people who are renting. Yeah, I keep a weapon and it's loaded for a thief or prowler! When seconds count a cop is only several minutes away,if at all!
