Winder Salon Gives Back to the Community with Free Haircuts for Foster Children and Job Seekers

Lifelong Winder resident Shannon Walden, the owner of Head Games Salon, is making her business a part of the local community.

Since mid-January, Head Games Salon has been offering a special service to the Barrow community — free haircuts for foster children and job seekers with upcoming interviews.

“There’s a need,” owner Shannon Walden, a lifelong resident of Winder, said of her motivation for offering the services free of charge. “How do you get put together and presentable when you’re unemployed to begin with? You’ve made the effort to find a job and now you have an interview and we want to get you ready for it.”

Walden hopes to make the community more aware of the services — parents of foster children and those who are unemployed and have job interviews lined up can call the salon at 678-425-9603 to schedule an appointment.

“We’re not here to be a business, we’re here to be part of the community as a business,” Walden said. “I would like to see more businesses come in and focus on the community and what the community needs, and as the businesses progress and grow they remember that the only reason they’re progressing and growing is because of the community that supports them.”
