Meet the Owner of a Winder Antiques Business

Carol McCarthy amassed so many antiques in her home she had to start selling them.

Carol McCarthy is the owner of in Winder. The Buford resident is celebrating one year in business today in the house where her great-aunt lived.

Patch: How did you get into your line of work?

Carol McCarthy: I started my antiques in another antique mall booth six years ago. I love antiques. They were in my house and I had so many I had to start selling them. Then I got into the painted furniture, which I love to paint furniture.

Patch: What’s the best aspect of your job?

CM: Talking to the customers, meeting the customers and trying to make sure they leave my store happy.

Patch: What’s the worst aspect of our job?

CM: Paperwork (laughter). The paperwork, right there.

Patch: What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

CM: I love horseback riding and painting all this furniture usually. When I’m not at work I’m painting furniture. I know it’s not a hobby, but I just love animals. I like to swim.

Patch: What is your personal business philosophy?

CM: I really want the customer to feel satisfied and I want them to have a great time while they’re in here. I want them to feel like they got what they wanted.
