Meet the Owner of a Local Family Entertainment Center

Winder resident Holly Lizotte worked as a paralegal before opening Galaxy Golf & Games.

Holly Lizotte, a Winder resident, is the owner of in Winder, an indoor putt-putt and family entertainment facility that has been open for the past eight months.

Patch: How did you get into your line of work?

Holly Lizotte: We were actually out at Fort Yargo as a family and we were spending time over there, they have a miniature golf course. We thought that it would be neat to have a miniature golf course ourselves because we were talking about how there's nothing to do here, locally, and how far we have to go to do anything with your family or with friends. The more we started talking about it, it was like, well, if you did have something that was outdoors, it's seasonal. You wouldn't be able to be open when it's raining or when it's cold, so we started looking at some of the indoor places, which there are a few, not very many. They're more popular up north, of course, because of snow and the weather up there, but there are a few here in Georgia and we started looking at theirs. We liked the glow-in-the-dark the best because it just seemed to have a little more wow to it.

Patch: What’s the best aspect of your job?

HL: Meeting people and watching families come in and have a great time, watching groups of young kids coming in and having fun with their friends. Watching young , little couples come in on date night and hearing them laugh, 'cause they walk in and they think it's going to be easy and it's not.

Patch: What’s the worst aspect of your job?

HL: I can’t really say anything other than what any other small business owner may worry about, making it or not, and especially in an economy like this, you don't know.

Patch: What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

HL: I have three girls and a husband and a dog, so I have to raise them and tend to the house. I like scrapbooking, I like reading, spending time with my own family and friends.

Patch: What is your personal business philosophy?

HL: It has to be family-oriented, safe and clean.

Patch: What’s your favorite arcade game to play?

HL: Ms. Pac-Man. I will give away my age if I tell you that that's what I grew up on. It was technology (laughs). I’m a kid at heart, though.

Patch: How are your putt-putt skills?

HL: Just like anybody else, I don’t brag about them (laughs). I play with the kids.
