General Contractor for New Braselton Hospital to Host Outreach Fair

Turner Construction Company will hold subcontractor and vendor event at the Gainesville Civic Center on May 9.

Turner Construction Company, the general contractor chosen to lead the new Northeast Georgia Medical Center project in Braselton, has made plans to hold an outreach rair for subcontractors and vendors at the Gainesville Civic Center at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9.

In a recent press release, Turner Construction Project Manager Keith Merritt said, "We want to involve as many local subcontractors, vendors and craftsmen as possible in this hospital project which will serve the community in which they reside.”

To that end, a major portion of the May 9 event will include the provision of pre-qualification and project information to subcontractors wishing to bid for construction elements and vendors seeking to supply systems or materials for the new hospital project on the River Place campus in Braselton.

The proposed 100-bed, state-of-the-art hospital will incorporate innovations in design and delivery methods to enhance the provision of care, while reducing project and ongoing operating costs. Turner Construction plans to break ground on the 240,000-square-foot hospital this fall, with an estimated completion date in early 2015. Currently, the 119-acre River Place campus houses a multi-story medical office building. Operational for the past three years, Medical Plaza 1 is comprised of numerous physician specialties, an urgent care center and outpatient services, including imaging, lab and physical and occupational therapy.

"Turner's focused plan for local, qualified subcontractor, vendor and craftsman participation in this building project is one of the factors that impressed us in their proposal," said Rudy Lonergan, director of facilities development at Northeast Georgia Health System. "This is a key goal for the Health System and was an important aspect in our decision making process. We are pleased to have Turner partnering with us to achieve this goal through outreach efforts such as this fair and the project website."

The project website is open to all subcontractors and vendors who are interested in collaborating with Turner Construction in the development of the hospital. The website, www.ngmcproject.com, is designed to serve as a communications hub for current and potential subcontractors, vendors, craftsmen and project team members seeking up-to-date information related to the NGMC Braselton project. It also includes a Subcontractor/Vendor Interest Form and Craftsman Interest Form, which can be conveniently submitted online. Once submitted, the information will be stored in a database for the project. By using this system, Turner will be able to keep track of every subcontractor, vendor and craftsman interested in the project.

All subcontractors will be required to provide a complete pre-qualification package prior to receiving an invitation to bid from Turner. Subcontractors who have a qualification statement on file with Turner need to only provide updated information as required by Turner. Interested parties who are unable to attend the outreach fair but still wish to be considered for the project should contact Anne Adams with Turner Construction Co. at 404-504-2698 to either request a pre-qualification package or a list of information required to update an existing file.

Turner Construction Company, the largest general builder in the nation, has been involved in such high profile projects as the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington D.C., Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill., and the Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters in downtown Atlanta, among others.

Subcontractors and vendors who wish to attend the outreach fair in Gainesville on May 9 are asked to RSVP via e-mail by 4 p.m. today, Friday, May 4. The Fair will take place in Gainesville Civic Center’s Chattahoochee Room.
