Four Paws Animal Hospital Gives Statham Dog Park a Leg Up

The local vet will host a canine rabies vaccine and micro-chip clinic on Saturday, April 14, to benefit the local dog park.

The Statham Dog Park inside Furr Lane Park off Dooley Town Road has opened to rave reviews from visitors of both the two-legged and four-legged varieties.

However, to maintain and enhance the park further, the generosity of the businesses and residents of Statham is required. One local business owner is showing her support in a very special way — one that helps local pooches and the new dog park at the same time.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, Dr. Angela Thibodeaux of Four Paws Animal Hospital will host a Canine Rabies Vaccine and Micro-Chip Clinic in front of on Railroad Street in downtown Statham. During the event, one-year rabies vaccines will be just $15 and micro-chipping will be just $25.

In addition to all proceeds benefiting the dog park, both services greatly benefit our treasured tail-waggers. Rabies is a viral disease of mammals that is passed through a bite. While humans can survive if treated immediately, sadly there is no known cure for animals. Pet vaccinations are required by law in the state of Georgia and help protect our pets from infection in the event of contact with a rabid animal.

Of equal importance to many pet owners, micro-chipping is a high-tech form of identification that can significantly increase the chance that your pet will be returned safely if it is ever lost. Only about the size and shape of a grain of rice, the micro-chip is placed beneath your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. Implantation is safe and simple, taking only a few minutes from start to finish. Each microchip carries vital information about your pet, including your name, address and contact information.
