Foundation Taking Shape at Gateway Station

The planned development is off Ga. Highway 316 in Bethlehem.

A foundation is taking shape near Gateway Cinemas 12 off Ga. Highway 316 in Bethlehem.

The planned 14,000-square-foot Gateway Station development is set to feature a splash fountain similar to the one at Mall of Georgia and a clock tower. The site will also include an acre of greenspace behind the shopping center that can be used for outdoor events, such as concerts.

A total of 160 acres are earmarked for grocery, retail, restaurant, office and medical space within Gateway at University Parkway.

This is just a big tease! We can all see the minimal work being done on the sight when we drive by each day! When are we going to find out what's going in there...especially grocery. We need a Kroger!

Not everyone drives past the site. And I've asked Wayne Bartlett, the contact for the project, about what's going to go in and he said he may have some info next month.

This may be old news to some but did find out from management at the Varsity in Athens that there is going to be one built at Gateway Station. Was told to be opening some time in January.

I grew up in a Winder where doors were not locked and the town was full of folks shopping! SometimesRead More a moonshiner would get caught or the parking meter would run out of time and one would get a parking ticket by one of the three cops in town! Now I keep a weapon handy because of voices and footsteps on the pavement at night! Where are these people coming from and going to after one o'clock in the morning? Why does it take so long for a policeman to show up after a call is made,if they show up at all? I've watched nice homes on my street turn into dumps. They are rented by owners who are only interested in the money and not the quality of people who are renting. Yeah, I keep a weapon and it's loaded for a thief or prowler! When seconds count a cop is only several minutes away,if at all!
