Barrow County Restaurant Inspections for May 2: Black Mold Found in Two Local Establishments

  • Violation of: 4-2B. Food-contact surfaces: cleaned & sanitized (Excessive mold found in ice shoot of drink machine.)
  • Violation of: 8-2B. Toxic substances properly identified, stored, used (Sanitizer strength in three-compartment sink greater than 200 ppm — proper strength 50 to 100 ppm. Corrected on site by dumping in sink and refilling to 50 ppm.)
  • Violation of: 11A. Proper cooling methods used; adequate equipment for temperature control (Unapproved cooling method in use at time of inspection. Do not use countertop fan to cool foods. Must use approved cooling methods such as ice baths, breaking food into smaller portions, ice wands, etc.)
  • Violation of: 12A. Contamination prevented during food preparation, storage & display (A container of raw beef was stored on top of trash can at time of inspection. Corrected on site by removing from trash can.)
  • Violation of: 15A. Food and nonfood-contact surfaces cleanable, properly designed, constructed, and used (Unapproved freezer placed in dining area, not NSF approved.)

  • Violation of: 17C. Physical facilities installed, maintained, and clean (Floors behind ice machine have black dirt accumulation.)
