Barrow County Restaurant Inspections for Jan. 9, 2013: Establishments with Lowest Scores Since September

No new reports for Barrow County have been posted by the Northeast Health District, so Barrow Patch looks back at some of the lowest-scoring restaurants over the past couple months.

  • Violation of: 2-1C. No bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods (Employee was observed taking chopped onions out of prep table with bare hands. Corrected on site by discarding onions and having employee wash hands and put on gloves.) 

Non-critical violations:  

  • Violation of: 4-2A. Food stored covered (Multiple food items stored not covered to protect from contamination — i.e. cooked wings, sweet and sour chicken and chicken on a stick in glass door reach-in cooler and shredded cheese in reach-in under prep table. Corrected on site by covering food products. *REPEAT VIOLATION) 
  • Violation of: 6-2. Proper date marking and disposition (Multiple ready to eat foods prepared in advance not labeled with date prepared. Corrected on site by labeling with date each product was prepared.) 
  • Violation of: 13A. Posted: Permit/Inspection/Choking Poster/Handwashing (Health department inspection record blocked from plain view for customers. **Not posted during complaint investigation on 6-20-2012 either.)

Corrected on site by discarding food product in sandwich prep and operating out of reach-in cooler at end of work line.)

  • Violation of: 15A. Food and nonfood-contact surfaces cleanable, properly designed, constructed, and used (Sandwich prep table operating at 45 degrees at time of inspection. Do not use until cooler has been serviced and operating 38 to 40 degrees. Must maintain TCS food at less than 41 degrees.) 
  • Violation of: 17C. Physical facilities installed, maintained, and clean (Floor tiles in kitchen area in poor repair, not smooth or easily cleanable. *REPEAT VIOLATION)
