New Ministry's Effort to Benefit Local Foster Children

Want to make a donation to make Christmas merry for local children in need the holiday season? Keep reading.

The reports a new venture is seeking donations that will make Christmas a little merrier for local foster children.

Fostering Christmas Hope, an effort of husband-and-wife duo Misty and Chris Manus, is asking for donations of gently used and new stuffed animals, candy and small, holiday novelty items for children in foster care in Barrow County.

Donation sites include the Barrow County Department of Family and Children Services, Head Games Salon, Hair and Company, Fellowship Baptist Church and Georgia Power, all located in Winder.

and the will also be collecting toys to help make Christmas merry for local children in need.

The Empty Stocking Toy Drive kicked off this past weekend in the parking lot of the Barrow Crossing shopping center, where county first responders and CERT members will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children between the age of 3 and 18.

Toy drives will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3 and 10 at Barrow Crossing or you can drop of a toy at any Barrow County fire station before Dec. 12.

The agencies are working with Barrow County Family Connection/Communities In Schools,the organization that hosts the Holiday Connection, to distribute the toys.
