Local Art Show Pays Homage to Spring

The Georgia Piedmont Arts Center held its final gallery show of 2013 this past weekend and presented awards to several local artists.

The best of show honor for the Georgia Piedmont Arts Center's final gallery show of the 2013 season was presented to a Winder resident.

Twyla Germain was recognized for her watercolor collage titled “Struttin’ Into Spring.” The theme for the overall gallery show, which was held Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, was "The Beauty of Spring." 

Awards for two-dimensional submissions were presented to Mia Rodriguez of Braselton, who took first place, and John Saude of Lawrenceville, who received second place honors. Three-dimensional awards were given to Jo Cooper of Hoschton, first place, and Bobbie Austin of Social Circle, second place. Honorable mention awards were presented to Jo Cooper, Myrna Trapp, Bobbie Austin and Mia Rodriguez. The Chairman’s Choice honor was awarded to Bruce Bulau of Loganville for his acrylic piece “RJ’s Ducks.”

Art education professional Rosalin O’Rear was guest judge for the show.
