'Toddlers and Tiaras' Mom Explains 'Pretty Woman' Costume

Mother of girl dressed as prostitute for pageant interviewed on Atlanta's Fox 5 news.

Winder resident Wendy Dickey appeared on Minnesota's Fox 9 Wednesday to discuss her decision to in an outfit inspired by Julia Roberts' character in "Pretty Woman."

During the interview, Dickey said the outfit shown on TLC's "Toddlers and Tiaras" was taken out of context. Fox 9 showed video of Paisley emerging from behind a screen dressed in a toddler version of Roberts' polka-dotted dress and floppy hat in part two of the routine, a segment not shown by TLC.

“It was just a little tacky costume and it was turned into something a lot bigger than it really was," Dickey told the station. "People are under the assumption that I just woke up one morning and decided I am going to dress my 3-year-old like a hooker. That was definitely not the case. ... The whole story was about the ugly duckling who turned into the beautiful swan, and they never showed the beautiful swan.”

Dickey says that, if given a do-over, she would not choose that outfit again.
