Moms Talk: Introducing Your Child to New Things

Join the discussion. We want to hear your thoughts on ways to introduce kids to new things.

Welcome to this week's Moms Talk. Settle in as we start a conversation today on introducing children to new things.

One way that I introduce my children to new things is talking to them first. I see how the might feel about a situation and go from there. My daughter, who has separation anxiety, does not do as well as my son. But here lately, I talk to her, see how she feels and if it bothers her, I take smaller, more gradual steps in introducing something new. I tell her the good things about a situation. The more good things she hears the more excited she gets. Same goes with introducing new people into their lives. I tell them who the person is as well as a little bit about them to make my children more comfortable with the idea of a new friend before they ever meet them. I can't wait to hear other ideas from other moms on how to introduce new things to kids.
