Moms Talk: How Old is Old Enough to Learn about the 'Birds and the Bees'?

Join this week's discussion on when to have "the talk."

Welcome to this week's Moms Talk. Settle in as we start a conversation today on the "birds and the bees."

Every mother is different. Some tell their children from the start how babies are born, why girls are different from boys, etc. Just how old is old enough to know? I have two children that have asked, "Mommy, where do babies come from?" and "How do babies get in your tummy?" and "Mom, why do boys look different than girls?" Little, simple questions like that seem so simple to answer. But just how do you explain them to small children without confusing them or even yourself? Or explain it period? Growing up in a very strict household, for me, it was never spoken of. You didn't bring up the subject because it was very uncomfortable to talk about. I am trying to break the cycle and be open with my children if they have questions. But having no knowledge until being taught in school, how can not only I but other moms go about doing this? Just how old is old enough to talk to your kids about the birds and the bees? I really am interested in hearing what other moms have to say and experiences moms may have already had with  "the talk."
