Rally, Petition Created to Stop the Eviction on Parkwood Farms

A rally will be held at the therapy center on Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. Donations are also being accepted.

Snellville has once again shown itself to be compassionate and caring, as you all have rallied around Dr. Marilyn Peterson and Parkwood Farms.

Citizens and public officials, including Mayor Kelly Kautz and State Rep. Dar'shun Kendrick, have reached out to show their concern and offer advice.

After dozens of phone calls and emails, the following action plans have been put into place by concerned citizens.

First, on Monday, Nov. 12, a press conference will be held at the Farm. This is also a time for people to stop by and show their support.

“These beautiful children deserve a place to go where they can interact like other children, if, just for a little while," said Renn McClintic-Doyle, who sent her son Chris to Parkwood after no one would accept him, according to a recent press release. “The horseback riding helped him bond to the horses, and slowly he began to transfer that positive behavior to his daily life. Parkwood Farms has been a real life saver for Chris.”

Second, a petition is circulating the web designed to stop the eviction on Dr. Peterson's home and therapy center. You can sign it and find out more here. The petition is designed to raise awareness and show community support. Once it has enough signatures, it will brought to the attention of the bank.

As of 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, over 120 people had signed the petition. (Update: as of 10 a.m. Sunday, there are nearly 1,200 signatures.)

You can also donate to Parkwood Farms through PayPal. (The link to their PayPal account is on the right side of their website.)

If you sign the petition, tell us in the comments!

Snellville Patch will continue to update this story as more information is made available.

I encourage everyone to support Marilyn and Parkwood Farms. The work the center does is phenominal. This is one of the best run centers and is certainly focused on helping not only the disabled person but also the family members. Add a few feathers to your angel wings and help out a not-for-profit organization that does a great deal of good.

I signed, I am appalled over this situation. HSBC is headquartered in London and is the 3rd LARGEST BANK IN THE WORLD! It is also the 6th largest company in the world! Talk about "David and Goliath" ! ....but you know numbers have power too. I'm trying to put this on signon.org or move on.org. It has the potential for 100,000's Of signatures. The position of the bank in the world can be used as an advantage! BDarsey
