Bracelet Missing for Decades Returned to Owner's Family

The daughter of the owner, a former Winder City Councilman, was located within minutes after the announcement was posted on the Barrow Patch Facebook page.

A bracelet lost decades ago has been returned to the owner's family.

Matt Kwiatkowski found the bracelet while using a metal detector on the grounds of Russell Middle School. Kwiatkowski posted an announcement on Barrow Patch and described the bracelet, which was inscribed with the name Billy Sheridan -- a former Winder City Councilman.

Within minutes of Kiwatkowski's post being shared on the Barrow Patch Facebook page, Sheridan's daughter, Darenda Kinney, replied.

"It has to be very old!! ... Brings tears to my eyes," she wrote.

Kwiatkowski arranged a meeting with Kinney and returned the bracelet. In an email to Barrow Patch, Kwiatkowski described the meeting.

"They were not sure how long ago he lost it," he wrote. "His daughter said now she is searching photos with him wearing it. Russell middle use to be a K-12 school so he went there the entire time. We think it may be older then we first thought. I did find out how amazing Billy was to the town and everyone he touched. I wish I got to meet him before he passed. Thanks for your help."
